I’m Shant Hovagimian. I live in Los Angeles.
From the echoing sounds of basketballs in early morning gyms to the intricate lines of code on a computer screen, my journey has been driven by a blend of passion and discipline. As a child, I found solace and excitement in sports, particularly basketball, which taught me the values of dedication and hard work. This discipline later seamlessly transitioned into my career in software engineering.
The creation of my first app, Anywhere Basketball, was a culmination of my early sports passion and my growing interest in technology. This app wasn't just a project; it was a personal mission to provide the structured curriculum for basketball enthusiasts that I wished I had in my youth.
While basketball remains a vital part of my life, my interests have grown to include travel and photography, pursuits that provide me with a much-needed respite from the world of technology. Though vastly different form my career, my engagement with these hobbies has taught me discipline, the value of stepping out of my comfort zone, and nurtured my creativity. They provide a unique contrast to my tech career, serving as vital outlets for personal growth and creative expression.
During my final year at California State University, Los Angeles, I not only focused on my studies but also engaged in freelance projects. This experience allowed me to hone my skills in project management, technical expertise, and creative problem-solving, broadening my understanding of the dynamic field of technology.
After graduating, I joined Capital One as a software engineer, where I continue to expand my technical acumen and apply my skills to impactful projects. Looking ahead, I aspire to be at the forefront of innovation. I aim to combine my technical knowledge with a creative approach to solve real-world problems, making a meaningful impact on people’s lives. My journey from the basketball courts to the world of software and design is just the beginning. I am excited to see where this path of creativity, innovation, and hard work will lead me next.
